What’s in this article?

Artificial intelligence-backed experiences in Google Search are no longer a prediction of the future of SEO, but part of the current search experience. As of February 18, 2026, Google launched its AI Mode and AI Overview experiences in Turkey.

This change does not mean that SEO is over. Google's current official documentation makes it clear that basic SEO practices for AI Overviews and AI Mode remain valid, and no special schema, separate AI file, or special technical optimization is required to appear in those experiences.

What Are AI Overviews?

AI Overviews is a search experience in which Google can provide artificial intelligence-assisted summary above or within search results in certain queries.

In response, web resources can be shown that lead the user to more detailed information.

What Is AI Mode?

AI Mode is a conversational Google Search experience for complex, multi-step searches and follow-up questions.

At its launch in Türkiye, Google said the experience used the Gemini model family.

Are AI Mode and AI Overviews the Same?

No. The features serve different search scenarios and may use different models or techniques.

However, in terms of site owners, what is common is that indexable and reliable content on the web can be used as a supporting resource.

Need Special SEO for AI Search?

Google's official approach is pretty clear here: there are no separate technical eligibility requirements for AI Overviews and AI Mode.

The basic requirements are that a page must:

  • be crawlable by Google,
  • being indexable,
  • be eligible to display a snippet,
  • comply with Search policies.

These are the basic requirements.

Do I Need to Add Special AI Schema?

Google says no special schema.org markup is required to appear in AI features.

Any structured data used must match the visible page content.

Is ai.txt or Special Machine File Required?

Google Search does not require a special ai.txt or similar machine-readable file for inclusion in AI Overviews or AI Mode.

What is Query Fan-Out?

According to Google's statement, AI features can perform multiple searches in some cases by dividing the user's single query into different subtopics.

This makes broader topic coverage more important than targeting one keyword alone.

How Does This Change Your SEO Strategy?

Rather than optimizing a page based on a repetition of a single keyword, it's more valuable to really answer related questions that the user can ask about the topic.

For example, in a brand protection content, it is not just "what is trademark protection?":

  • How to detect fake product,
  • How to monitor unauthorized vendor,
  • what is a fake domain,
  • How to do Marketplace monitoring

Such related sub-intents can be addressed through separate, connected content.

What is Non-Commodity Content?

Google’s 2026 generative-AI Search guidance emphasises content offering unique value rather than repeating information found elsewhere.

That value may come from:

  • Original research,
  • Expert opinions,
  • case,
  • Methodology,
  • real product or operational experience.

These are possible sources of value.

Sourcing and Expertise

Publishing vague or unverified AI texts, especially in high-risk areas such as law, finance, health and legislation, is a problem not only for AI Search but also for user trust.

Primary and official resource use should be part of the content operation.

Internal Linking Still Matters

In Google's own AI features guide, making content easy to find with internal links within the site is one of the basic SEO practices.

Meaningful links between pillar pages and related supporting content help both users and crawling architecture.

Content Beyond Text

Google also recommends using quality visuals and video in appropriate situations.

In particular, original visuals on issues such as product, physical process, design, or data analysis can increase the information value of the page.

Can AI Search Traffic Be Seen in Search Console?

In 2026, Search Console changed significantly for generative AI visibility. Google gradually introduced dedicated performance views for generative AI features, including AI Overviews and AI Mode, and announced their rollout to all sites by the end of August 2026.

Generative AI visibility can therefore be analysed separately from conventional organic clicks.

AI Search KPIs

  • generative AI impression trends,
  • organic click,
  • Branded queries,
  • Landing page conversion,
  • engaged sessions,
  • Visibility as source,
  • topic cluster performance.

How to Approach GEO, AEO and AISEO Concepts

GEO, AEO or AISEO may have useful working concepts in terms of content teams. However, on the Google Search side, these do not mean a technical indexing system independent of classic SEO.

Google’s official guidance emphasises that fundamental SEO principles also apply to generative AI Search.

What Not to Do

  • Creating hundreds of similar pages for each possible AI query,
  • Producing artificial schemas in order to appear only in AI,
  • Rewriting competing content without adding original value,
  • To publish the text of AI without verification,
  • Focusing on solitary keyword repetition instead of internal linking.

AI Search SEO Checklist

  • Can the page be indexed?
  • Does content meet actual user intent?
  • Is there any original knowledge or expertise?
  • Is the title hierarchy clear?
  • Are internal links correct?
  • Important information in text form?
  • Is Structured data compatible with visible content?
  • Are the sources verified?
  • Are Search Console generative AI data monitored?

The B10 Approach

The B10 Digital Agency does not reduce AI Search visibility to keyword density. It discusses content architecture, technical SEO, expertise, internal linking, data and AI-supported content operation together.

This guide draws on Google Türkiye’s AI Mode and AI Overviews announcement and the current approach in Google Search Central’s AI Features, Generative AI Optimization and Search Console generative AI reporting documentation.

Conclusion

In 2026, the successful SEO strategy for AI Search is not to seek out "the new tactic to trick Google's AI." Scanning and indexing health, original content, reliable source, strong Topic Cluster, and good user experience are still fundamental building blocks.
