Identifying suspected counterfeit goods at customs

Compare serial numbers, batch codes, labels and packaging against verified genuine samples.

Examine the product, packaging and shipment data separately. Compare model markings and serial formats, label placement and batch codes, and the description in shipping documents with the goods presented. Use a verified genuine reference for each comparison.

A serial number repeated on several physical items warrants closer inspection. A working QR code alone does not establish origin. Record the observation, plausible alternative explanations and missing evidence separately. A label difference may reflect a market-specific pack or an earlier production run. Keep sensitive authentication features out of public material.
