Handling mistaken counterfeit reports and seller objections

Verify evidence before reporting a listing, reassess documented objections and measure confirmed false positives.

An alert calls for review. Verify the listing, product variant, seller and authority to act. Identify whether the allegation concerns counterfeit goods, an image or a trademark sign. Check permissions and supply records. Old packaging, different sizes, promotions or sellers with similar names can distort the comparison. Under Türkiye’s Law No. 6563, evidence-backed IP complaints and documented objections are separate steps.

A seller’s objection should identify the case and listing, explain the grounds and attach relevant evidence. Link invoices or licences to the exact product, period and use. Use the platform’s authorised channel for personal information. Preserve the original observation and log which new evidence changed the assessment. Correct a confirmed erroneous notice and review the rule that produced it.

Track receipt, review, correction and verified platform outcome separately. Submission does not guarantee reinstatement. Measure confirmed false positives against reviewed alerts from the same period and sample. Unreviewed alerts and platform rejections do not establish a false-positive rate.
